Open Government. An advocate for open and fair government, Corey has championed the use of technology to increase transparency and accessibility. As a state legislator, Corey introduced legislation to create an independent legislative redistricting process and worked with colleagues to remove barriers between people and their elected officials. He continues to work with citizen organizations, such as the League of Women Voters, to engage them in the democratic process.

• Corey will redesign the Secretary of State website to provide one-click access to voter information that will contain contact information about a person’s elected officials at all levels of government.


• Corey will embrace social media technology, such as Facebook and Twitter, to give residents of all ages the timely information they need to be engaged citizens. Information about upcoming elections, major events in North Dakota, and important changes in policy related to the Secretary of State’s office will be available at the convenience of each North Dakotan.


• Corey will enhance the information available through the office of the Secretary of State by creating new material for business and organization registration that is timely and accurate, and will make it available to all citizens in electronic, paper and audio form.

Efficient Government. North Dakota has taken significant pride in weathering the economic storm that has plagued the rest of our nation, thanks to the hard work of our energy and workforce market and modest expenditures. The Secretary of State must carefully examine the future of the office while preserving efficient operations.

• Corey will restore economic efficiency in the office of the Secretary of State by properly updating the state filing system while being cognoscente of the tax payer. He will work with other state agencies to design and implement systems that work ideally with North Dakota and best address the needs of the citizens.


• Budget analysis and reporting is vital to the flow of communication between all agencies of North Dakota state government. Corey will utilize the state accounting software to report all incomes and expenditures through the office of the Secretary of State without adding unnecessary cost to the process.


• Corey believes highly in continuous communication between government and the citizens. Corey will be dedicated to press releases to the media and making all information readily available in the office and on the website for the public to access at their convenience.
