Educating Voters

A long time staff member for American Legion Boys State of North Dakota, Corey has worked with the next generation of citizens and watched them learn about our democracy through activity. These powerful lessons will be adopted by the Secretary of State to engage citizens of all ages and abilities, making sure that our citizen government is created and shared by all North Dakotans.
  • Corey will replace the outdated voter education material currently available with accurate and easy to use instructional videos via the Secretary of State’s website. He will also create a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) section for the website that provides rapid answers to common questions asked by North Dakota residents new and old.

  • Corey will encourage state officials to engage in programs, such as the American Legion Boys and Girls State, to provide immediate information to the future leaders of our state. Corey will also create voter education material to be made available to schools in North Dakota and ensure that all students are provided with accurate information pertaining to our state and local government.

  • Corey will also enhance voting programs for our military personnel and for residents living abroad. Corey will continue to ensure all North Dakotans that cast a ballot that is postmarked by Election Day is counted if received within the next week.
Protecting Your Ballot

As the chief elections officer within the only state without voter registration, the next Secretary of State must work with legislative leaders and county auditors to ensure all volunteers and poll workers are properly trained and equipped to run fair elections.
  • Corey will work with legislative leaders to ensure elections in North Dakota are conducted properly and always contain a paper element allowing for accurate verification of numbers in the event of a recount.

  • Corey will partner with county auditors to answer all voting related questions and make sure poll workers, staff and volunteers are trained and informed about voting procedures and current laws. He will ensure that all residents have unobstructed access to the voting booth on Election Day.

  • Corey will work with Secretaries of State across the country to ensure North Dakota is at the forefront of operating efficient elections that work best for each resident of our great state. He will also listen to residents of North Dakota to answer concerns they may have related to rural voting access and changing polling locations.
